About Us and Who We Are?

We are a family linked by our common need for the Savior - Jesus Christ. We are all on a spiritual journey seeking God, accepting Jesus, and being empowered by the Holy Sprit. As a result, we desire to restore the life and spirit of the New Testament church. We are an independent group who just want to be Christians. We want to be non-denominational. We believe that unity is possible with a common faith and a gracious love for one another. We want to be Christian in its purest sense - "Christ-like." We try to be people of growth, integrity, purity, service, evangelism, and spiritual relationships. It is our dream that God will continually give us a vision of what it means to be a caring, compassionate people committed to serving and meeting the needs of others.

About The Church of Christ. . .

The Church of Christ was established in Jerusalem by our Lord Jesus Christ about 33 A.D.

In searching for the concrete evidence needed to convince us what we know about the New Testament scripture to verifying what Jesus had told Peter about His future church.

Jesus said, "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it and I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven'' (Matthew 16:18, 19). This was His final confirmation before He died on the cross. When He arose from the dead and He met more than 500 witnesses who saw Him alive.  After Christ's ascension, Peter used the keys to open the kingdom of heaven (establishing of Christ's church) in Jerusalem on the Pentecost Day. Christ's church began to grow and it spread all over the world ever since the first century.

History of Dark Age. . .

Through the history of the dark age, the restoration movement caused the great men of faith to meet together and they began to read and study the Bible carefully. After reading and studying the Bible, they debated, and struggled to find the solution in answering some biblical issues.  A few decades ago the great men of faith who were determined to follow the true pattern of New Testament's agendas. Those decent men found the solution and they restored back to the original church which Christ had laid the foundation in the first century.  They wanted to go back to the Bible time as the same way as we always do.  We want to follow God's pattern and if we deliberately change it, we shall be accursed according to Galatians 1:6-10.

Therefore, we are non-denominational church and have no central headquarters or president. The head of the church is none other than Jesus Christ Himself (See Ephesians 1:22-23). Each congregation of the churches of Christ is autonomous, and it is the Word of God that unites us into One Faith (See Ephesians 4:3-6). We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and His holy apostles, and not the teachings of man. We are not Campbellites, but Christians only!

Each congregation is self ruled and is independent of all other congregations. Christ is the head of the church all around the world. There are no conventions, annual meetings, official publications or policy-setting groups. Each congregation is overseen by a group of elders who are selected from among the members and meet the qualifications outlined by apostle Paul (1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1). These elders are assisted by deacons, evangelists and other Christian servants.

The Bible says, "And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" (Ephesians 1:22, 23). "Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all" (Ephesians 4:3-6).

Building The Bridge of Faith, Hope, and Love

Most churches of Christ exist to glorify Christ and exhibit a passion for God. We worship God in spirit and truth. Seeing Christ through the eyes of our children, we become God's children. Touching the lives of those for whom He gave His life, we build the bridge of His grace, love, peace, and hope with others. In His hope we find our life to walk with Jesus.

We set our hope in God's love and grace through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. God's love and grace build the bridge to restore the relationship between the people and God through the gospel, the symbolical power of the cross, and the reason of the death of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ to die for us, so we may have peace with God.  (See Daniel 7:14, 27; Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 1:16-17; Romans 6:3- 4; Romans 8:1-2; Galatians 3:26, 27; 1 John 5:13).

Just before the ascension of Jesus, He has the authority in heaven and on earth.  He commands everyone to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and also He commands us to study all things that He taught His apostles. After the Pentecost Day, they were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write New Testament epistles and His authorized words handed down to us.  We, the Christians, comply with His authority and we did exactly what He commanded us to be baptized and to continue studying all things that He taught His apostles.  We simply cannot afford the risk to ignore or nullify His authority.

Here are several verses below this paragraph to support the evidence of Jesus' authority.  It begins with Matthew 28:18-20, but first we need to go back to the time of Daniel to help us finding the evidence of something about Jesus' authority.

The evidence is found in Daniel 7:14, 27 supporting Matthew 28:18-20 and John 5:26, 27..."Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed. Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey Him."

Notice four words "dominion" in verses 14 and 27. The word "dominion" means authority, control, command, say-so, domination, dominance, territory, power, and empire.

When Jesus began His ministry in the year of 30-33 A.D. There is another evidence that God gave His authority to Him and it is found in John 5:26, 27 supporting Matthew 28:18-20..."For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, "and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man."

Now we return back to the time of Jesus and let us read in Matthew 28:18-20..."Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.'' Amen.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith" (
Romans 1:16, 17).

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?  Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life (
Romans 6:3, 4).

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.  For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves
with Christ (Galatians 3:26, 27).

So, there is no condemnation now for those people who are in Christ Jesus. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death
(Romans 8:1-2).

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13).

The true evidence convinces all to know about Jesus' authority.  Now the question is "Have you been baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and to continue studying all things that He have commanded His apostles?

Someone who asks us a question "Is this what you believe?" It has nothing to do with that amiable question.  Because the amiable question means two things: agreeable or disagreeable.  Sometimes a person intends to justify himself or herself by not agreeing with the Bible while others agree with the Bible.  For an example,  the brief  story began with Moses and Pharaoh, and Pharaoh said, "Who is the Lord, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, nor will I let Israel go" (Exodus 5:1, 2).  Today some people act like Pharaoh and they will not obey what Jesus commands them.

The most important question is "Do what Jesus say?"  And then Jesus said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (Luke 9:23).  If we want to follow Jesus, we must deny any amiable questions we may ask over the Bible and we will do what He tells us to be baptized and to continue studying all things that He have commanded us.  If we want to do what is right, all we have to do is to go back to the Bible time.  Jesus will bless us if we do His will.  We encourage you to read the New Testament Bible daily.  crossroadscofc@aol.com.
